Can Yamani Emerge from a Land Other Than Yemen?

[Daralhidaye.ir]| The followers of Ahmad al-Basri, in order to justify the objection that if Ahmad al-Basri is the Yamani, then why did he come from Basra and not Yemen?!, cite a narration from Imam al-Baqir (alayhis salam).

The Narration of the Yamani

The supporters of the Yamani sect cite the following hadith from Imam al-Baqir (a):
MU’AWIYAH IBN ‘AMMAR, FROM ABU ‘UBAYDAH AL-HADH’A’, SAID: I ASKED ABU JA’FAR (ALAYHIS SALAM) ABOUT THIS MATTER, WHEN WILL IT BE? HE SAID: IF YOU WERE HOPING FOR IT TO COME TO YOU FROM ONE ASPECT (WAJH), THEN IT CAME TO YOU FROM ANOTHER ASPECT, DO NOT DENY IT.

Abu ‘Ubaydah al-Hadh’a’ said: I asked Imam al-Baqir (alayhis salam) when this matter will occur? The Imam said: If you hoped for an event to occur in a particular way (wajh), but it came about in another way, do not deny it.

Response to the Yamani Narration

First Point: This narration is about the Qa’im (may Allah hasten his noble relief), not the Yamani.

Second Point: The narrator is asking about the time (when / mata) of the uprising, not the place of the uprising.

Third Point: The Imam (a) has said that if you hoped and desired (tu’ammilun) for an event to occur in a particular way, but contrary to your expectation it happened in another way, you should not deny it. He is not saying that if we said he will come from here, but he came from another place, that you should not deny it.

Fourth Point: The Imam (alayhis salam) says: “that it comes to you from one aspect (wajh)” and does not say “that it comes to you from one place (makan)”. Wajh means the state or manner of coming, not the place or location from which the person comes. For example, someone might wish that when the Imam comes, he will be chosen as the commander of the army, but contrary to expectation, he is not even accepted as a soldier. If such an event occurs, do not deny it.

Conclusion of the Narration

From the review of the points raised, it is understood that the claims of the sect of the claimant of Yamani do not correspond with reality, and their statements in their claims cannot be confirmed.
