Dar al-Hidaya : The Heavenly Call (Al-Saiha) is a prophesied divine announcement that will signal the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (AJ). Previously, we examined the reality and identity of the caller. In this article, we focus on two crucial aspects confirmed by authentic narrations: the timing and the language of this celestial event.

When Will the Heavenly Call Occur?

Authentic hadiths from the Ahlul Bayt (AS) state that the Heavenly Call will occur in the holy month of Ramadan, specifically on the 23rd night, which is one of the Nights of Qadr.

🔹 Hadith of Harith ibn Mughirah from Imam Sadiq (AS)

Imam Sadiq (AS) said:
“The Heavenly Call, which will occur in the month of Ramadan, will take place on the night of Friday, after twenty-three nights of Ramadan have passed.”
(Kamal al-Din wa Tamam al-Ni’mah, Vol. 2, p. 652)

This confirms that the 23rd night of Ramadan, a Friday night, will be the appointed time for the divine proclamation. This aligns with the spiritual climax of Laylat al-Qadr, when destinies are decreed.

What Language Will the Heavenly Call Use?

Many wonder how one announcement from the heavens can reach all people across different nations and languages. The answer lies in divine capability and narration.

🔹 Hadith of Zurara from Imam Sadiq (AS)

Zurara asked Imam Sadiq (AS):
“Will the call be private or universal?”
Imam replied:
“It will be universal. Every nation will hear it in their own language.”
Zurara asked: “How can people oppose it after hearing such a clear message?”
Imam answered:
“Satan will not remain silent. He will make a counter-call at the end of the night to cast doubt.”
(Kamal al-Din wa Tamam al-Ni’mah, Vol. 2, p. 650)

This narration emphasizes that Gabriel’s call will be universally comprehensible—heard in each person’s native tongue, which highlights the miraculous and divine nature of this event.

Purpose of the Heavenly Call: A Divine Test

Although the first call will be clear and universal, Satan’s counter-call—proclaiming allegiance to the Sufyani—will test people’s faith. The goal is not just to inform but to distinguish the true believers from those who follow doubt.

Key Takeaways

Time of the Call: 23rd night of Ramadan (a Friday), during the early hours.
Language of the Call: Heard by every person in their native language.
Nature of the Call: A divine, universal call by Archangel Gabriel, followed by a deceptive counter-call by Satan.
Purpose: To fulfill divine justice and test people’s faith before the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (AJ).
